TCI C0285 4-Chlororesorcinol (CAS 95-88-5) is a chlorinated resorcinol whose two meta-oriented hydroxyl groups make the aromatic ring highly electron-rich. It is widely used as an intermediate for oxygen-containing heterocycles such as coumarins, benzofurans, and xanthene-based fluorophores. The phenolic groups also serve as coupling components in dye chemistry and as coordination sites in ligand studies. AMI Scientific supplies this TCI building block in 25 g and 500 g packs; because phenols darken on exposure to light and air, storage in a cool, dark place with the container tightly closed is recommended.
