TCI 2-Chloro-5-nitroaniline (C0403) is a trisubstituted aniline bearing chloro, nitro, and amino groups on a single aromatic ring. This arrangement gives chemists three orthogonal handles: diazotisation of the amine, reduction of the nitro group, and substitution or cross-coupling at the chlorine. It is therefore a frequent starting material for azo dyes, benzimidazole-type heterocycles, and medicinal chemistry libraries. Supplied in 25 g and 500 g packs as a yellow crystalline powder, it should be handled in a fume hood and stored cool, dry, and protected from light.
