N-Carbobenzoxyglycine (TCI C0575, CAS 1138-80-3), or Z-Gly-OH, is one of the most fundamental protected amino acids in peptide chemistry. Its simple, side-chain-free structure makes it an ideal model substrate for studying amide bond formation and for evaluating new coupling reagents. The Cbz group remains stable through common reaction conditions and is removed when deprotection is required.
