Description

TCI C0858 12-Crown 4-Ether (CAS 294-93-9) is the smallest of the commonly used crown ether series, featuring a macrocyclic cavity lined with four oxygen donor atoms. Its cavity dimensions give it a favorable fit for small cations, particularly lithium, which makes it valuable for ion-recognition studies and ion-selective electrode research. As a phase-transfer catalyst, it complexes the cation and leaves the counter-anion more reactive, accelerating substitution and elimination reactions in non-polar media. Supplied in 1mL and 5mL laboratory volumes, it should be stored cool, dry, and tightly sealed, and handled with appropriate personal protective equipment.
