TCI C1474 Ethyl (R)-(-)-4-Cyano-3-hydroxybutyrate is an enantiomerically defined chiral building block bearing nitrile, hydroxyl, and ester functionalities. It is widely recognised as a key intermediate toward the chiral dihydroxy side chain found in statin-type pharmaceutical compounds. The nitrile can be reduced or hydrolysed, the ester further derivatised, and the chiral alcohol used directly to construct additional stereocentres.
