TCI C1486 1-(2-Cyanoethyl)-2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole (CAS 23996-25-0) is a substituted imidazole supplied containing the 5-methyl isomer, as stated by the manufacturer. The cyanoethyl group masks the imidazole nitrogen at room temperature and releases catalytic activity on heating, giving latent curing behaviour in epoxy systems. This makes it valuable for one-component adhesive and electronic encapsulant research where long pot life is required.
