Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF) and Their Raw Materials — includes multidentate organic ligands such as polycarboxylic acids, bis-imidazolyl compounds, and other aromatic building blocks, along with their precursors, which serve as raw materials for forming metal-organic framework (MOF) structures. These ligands act as connectors that bridge metal centers into regular porous structures.

These MOF raw materials are used by materials chemistry and inorganic chemistry researchers to assemble porous frameworks through solvothermal reactions with metal salts, producing materials for studies of gas adsorption, molecular separation, and heterogeneous catalysis. Cyclic dicarboxylic acid derivatives and bis-imidazolyl compounds in particular are chosen to control the geometry and pore size of the resulting framework.
