Collection: Cycloparaphenylenes

Cycloparaphenylenes — a collection of ring-shaped aromatic macrocyclic compounds ("nanohoop") composed of benzene units linked at the para positions, forming a cavity of characteristic diameter. They serve as bottom-up structural models toward carbon nanotubes and as hosts in supramolecular chemistry.

Cycloparaphenylenes are used by materials and supramolecular chemistry researchers to study host-guest interactions with spherical guest molecules such as fullerenes, since the cyclic cavity can enclose them through pi-pi interactions. Ring-size variants such as [7], [8], [9], [10], up to [11]cycloparaphenylene are also used as structural models for understanding carbon nanotube growth and as building blocks for nanocarbon and optoelectronic materials.

Example products in this collection: TCI M3419 2424119-19-5 Methylene-bridged [6]cycloparaphenylene, TCI C2449 1092522-75-2 [12]Cycloparaphenylene, TCI C3571 1222105-42-1 [7]Cycloparaphenylene, TCI C2931 96100-94-6 [5]Cycloparaphenylene, TCI C3544 1217269-85-6 [8]Cycloparaphenylene, TCI C3386 156980-13-1 [6]Cycloparaphenylene, TCI C3536 1222105-48-7 [11]Cycloparaphenylene, TCI C3465 1092522-74-1 [9]Cycloparaphenylene.

Selection depends on the ring size (number of phenylene units), which determines the cavity diameter and electronic/optical properties, as well as the presence or absence of structural modifications such as methylene bridges. All products are genuine Tokyo Chemical Industry (TCI) Japan products, with purity, packaging, and storage conditions listed on each item's page.
