Collection: Diol Monomers

Diol Monomers — a collection of diol compounds with two hydroxyl groups on long-chain aliphatic skeletons, cyclic ones such as cyclohexanediol, and aromatic ones such as bisphenol, which serve as the basic building units for forming polymer chains through condensation or polyaddition reactions.

Diol Monomers are used as raw materials for the synthesis of polyesters, polyurethanes, and polycarbonates, where the choice of cis/trans isomer or the position of the hydroxyl groups determines the thermal and mechanical properties of the final polymer. Polymer researchers and materials developers also use cyclic and aromatic diols to design chains with specific rigidity or flexibility, including in epoxy resin and heat-resistant polyester formulations.

Examples of products in this collection: TCI X0057 612-14-6 1,2-Benzenedimethanol, TCI B6469 39635-79-5 Tetrabromobisphenol S, TCI U0178 765-04-8 Undecane-1,11-diol, TCI C0479 105-08-8 1,4-Cyclohexanedimethanol (cis- and trans- mixture), TCI T4130 129188-99-4 Bisphenol TMC, TCI C0480 931-17-9 1,2-Cyclohexanediol (cis- and trans- mixture), TCI T4124 1568-80-5 3,3,3',3'-Tetramethyl-2,2',3,3'-tetrahydro-1,1'-spirobi[indene]-6,6'-diol, TCI C0481 504-01-8 1,3-Cyclohexanediol (cis- and trans- mixture).

Diol selection needs to consider purity, the ratio of the cis and trans isomer mixture, and water content, because these factors affect the polycondensation reaction rate and the consistency of synthesis results. All products are original Tokyo Chemical Industry (TCI) Japan products, with purity, packaging, and storage conditions listed on each item's page.
