6-Bromo-1,3-benzothiazole (CAS 53218-26-1) is a heterocyclic building block that pairs the widely used benzothiazole core with a synthetically valuable bromine handle at the 6-position. The aryl bromide is well suited to palladium-catalysed cross-couplings such as Suzuki–Miyaura, Sonogashira and Buchwald–Hartwig amination, enabling rapid diversification into libraries of substituted benzothiazoles. Because the benzothiazole scaffold recurs in bioactive molecules, fluorescent probes and functional dyes, this reagent serves both medicinal chemistry and materials research.
