Description
TCI B6378, 3-bromo-N,N-dimethylaniline (CAS 16518-62-0), combines a strongly electron-donating dimethylamino group with a bromine atom in the meta position. The bromide provides a reliable handle for palladium-catalysed cross-couplings — Suzuki–Miyaura, Buchwald–Hartwig, Sonogashira, and Heck — as well as for halogen–metal exchange to access aryl organometallic reagents. The meta substitution pattern gives access to electronic profiles that the ortho and para isomers cannot, which is often decisive in the design of donor–acceptor chromophores and optoelectronic materials. AMI Scientific supplies this TCI building block in 5 g and 25 g pack sizes; aniline derivatives are toxic and should be handled in a fume hood with appropriate protective equipment.
