TCI B6534 provides 1-butene (CAS 106-98-9) as a solution in dichloromethane at approximately 3% (about 0.7 mol/L) according to the manufacturer. Supplying this gaseous terminal alkene in solution allows accurate volumetric dosing without cylinders, regulators or cold traps. It is convenient for cross metathesis, hydroformylation, hydrofunctionalisation and olefin polymerisation studies, particularly with catalysts that operate well in chlorinated solvents. The solution is highly flammable and may develop vapour pressure, so open it cold and inside a fume hood; AMI Scientific supplies 100 mL and 500 mL sizes in original TCI packaging.
