TCI C0072 Chitin (CAS 1398-61-4) is a natural β-1,4-linked polysaccharide of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine found in crustacean shells, insect exoskeletons, and fungal cell walls. It is commonly used as a raw material for chitosan production, a substrate for chitinase assays, and a starting material for biomaterials and adsorbents. TCI supplies the polymer in 25 g and 250 g pack sizes for laboratory and preparative-scale work. Store it in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place, and wear a dust mask when handling the fine powder.
