3-Chloro-2-methyl-1-propene (TCI C0209, CAS 563-47-3), known as methallyl chloride, is a reactive allylic halide stabilised with Stearyl 3-(3,5-Di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate. Its activated allylic position allows efficient introduction of the methallyl group onto alcohols, phenols, amines, and thiols. The remaining terminal double bond can then be used in polymerisation, addition, or further functionalisation steps.
