TCI C0257 4-Chlorophenylhydrazine Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of a para-chlorinated arylhydrazine, a form that offers far better storage stability than the readily oxidised free base. Its hydrazine group reacts cleanly with carbonyl compounds to give hydrazones, which serve as substrates for the Fischer indole synthesis and for pyrazole ring formation. The aromatic chlorine also provides a handle for subsequent palladium-catalysed cross-coupling.
