TCI C0506 Cyclooctene (CAS 931-88-4) is a medium-ring cycloalkene widely used as an olefin building block and metathesis monomer. Its ring strain drives ring-opening metathesis polymerization to give unsaturated polymers that remain open to further functionalization. It is also a common test substrate for evaluating ruthenium and molybdenum metathesis catalysts, and a starting point toward cyclooctene derivatives studied in bioorthogonal chemistry.
