TCI C0618 Cholesterol Decanoate is a cholesteryl ester of decanoic acid that combines a rigid chiral steroid core with a flexible ten-carbon chain. This structure readily forms cholesteric liquid crystal phases whose helical ordering produces temperature-dependent selective reflection. It is widely used in thermochromic mixtures, phase-transition studies, and optical demonstrations of liquid crystal behaviour. Supplied as a 25 g solid, it should be stored cool, dry, tightly closed, and protected from light.
