TCI C0824 4-Chlorobutyryl Chloride (CAS 4635-59-0) is a highly reactive bifunctional reagent available in 25 mL and 500 mL packs. The acyl chloride reacts first with amines or alcohols while the terminal alkyl chloride remains available for subsequent cyclisation, a route widely used to build pyrrolidinone frameworks. It also serves in Friedel–Crafts acylation, polymer surface modification, and analytical derivatisation. Because it reacts violently with water and releases corrosive hydrogen chloride, use dry, inert handling techniques in a fume hood and store it tightly closed under moisture-free conditions.
