TCI C0886 Chlorosulfonyl Isocyanate (CAS 1189-71-5), commonly known as CSI, is one of the most powerful electrophilic reagents in synthetic organic chemistry. Its isocyanate and chlorosulfonyl centres enable β-lactam formation via [2+2] cycloaddition, dehydration of carboxylic acids to nitriles, and direct access to sulfamides, sulfamates, and carbamates. The reagent reacts violently with water and must be handled strictly under anhydrous, inert conditions using dry glassware and syringe techniques.
