Description

tert-Butyl carbazate, widely known as Boc-hydrazine, is a mono-protected hydrazine derivative that offers far safer and more selective handling than free hydrazine. Its free terminal nitrogen reacts readily with aldehydes, ketones, and activated carboxylic acid derivatives, while the Boc group can be removed under standard acidic deprotection conditions. It is routinely used in peptide chemistry, hydrazide synthesis, bioconjugation linker preparation, and the construction of nitrogen heterocycles.
