Description
TCI C1564 Benzyl carbazate is a mono-protected hydrazine derivative bearing a benzyloxycarbonyl group, making it far safer and easier to handle than free hydrazine. The remaining NH–NH2 unit stays nucleophilic and reacts selectively, which is why the reagent is widely used to prepare peptide hydrazides for ligation and azide activation strategies. It also condenses readily with aldehydes and ketones to form stable hydrazones, supporting bioconjugation work and pH-responsive linker design, and serves as a precursor to pyrazoles, triazoles, and oxadiazoles. AMI Scientific offers this TCI reagent in 5 g and 25 g packs, with the Cbz group removable by catalytic hydrogenolysis when deprotection is required.
