Description
Ethyl 2-Cyanopropionate (TCI C1083, CAS 1572-99-2) is a bifunctional building block bearing both nitrile and ester groups on the same carbon, which makes its alpha proton readily removable. The resulting carbanion is widely used for alkylation, Michael addition, and Knoevenagel condensation, while the nitrile and ester groups allow further conversion into amines, acids, and heterocyclic scaffolds.
