Description
TCI C1182 4-Cyanobenzoyl Chloride (CAS 6068-72-0) is an activated benzoyl chloride carrying a para-cyano group, giving a highly reactive acylating agent with a second functional handle. It reacts readily with amines, alcohols, and thiols to form amides, esters, and thioesters under mild conditions. The remaining nitrile can subsequently be reduced, hydrolysed, or converted into tetrazoles and other nitrogen heterocycles. Because it is moisture sensitive and releases corrosive hydrogen chloride on contact with water, it must be handled in a fume hood and stored tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
