TCI C1335 1-Chloropinacolin is a sterically hindered α-halo ketone that combines a bulky tert-butyl group with a highly reactive chloromethyl carbonyl site. It is a classical building block for heterocycle formation, reacting with nitrogen and sulfur nucleophiles to give imidazole, triazole, and thiazole frameworks. The remaining carbonyl group can be reduced or further transformed, extending its usefulness in pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediate synthesis.
