TCI C1534, 3-(Chloromethyl)heptane (CAS 123-04-6), is a branched primary alkyl chloride widely used as a source of the 2-ethylhexyl group in organic synthesis. Its reactive carbon–chlorine bond makes it suitable for the alkylation of oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur nucleophiles, as well as for the preparation of organometallic derivatives. The branched chain is often introduced to improve solubility and to reduce crystallinity in target molecules and materials.
