Collection: Ion Association Reagents

Ion Association Reagents — gathers large cations and anions—such as quaternary ammonium salts, pyridinium compounds, and tetraphenylborate derivatives—that form neutral ion pairs with the target analyte. These compounds act as complex-forming reagents in extraction-photometric and precipitation methods for determining metal ions and surfactants.

This type of reagent is used by environmental laboratory analysts and analytical chemists for extraction-spectrophotometry of anionic surfactants, and as a sensitizer in the photometric determination of metals such as Cs and K through the formation of precipitates or colored ion pairs. The workflow generally involves reaction with the analyte in aqueous solution, followed by extraction into an organic phase for absorbance measurement.

Example products in this collection: TCI A5400 74920-80-2 MDEPAP [=1-Methyl-4-(4-diethylaminophenylazo)pyridinium Iodide] [Extraction-spectrophotometric reagent for anionic surfactants], TCI A5004 34006-16-1 8-Mercaptoquinoline Hydrochloride [Extraction-spectrophotometric and fluorimetric reagent for soft metals], TCI A5161 6004-24-6 CPC Monohydrate (=Cetylpyridinium Chloride Monohydrate) [Ion association reagent for extraction photometric analysis and sensitizer in photometric determination of metals], TCI A5100 2437-29-8 Malachite Green, Oxalate [Sensitive spectrophotometric reagent for PO4], TCI A5160 139-08-2 Benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium Chloride [Ion association reagent for extraction photometric analysis and sensitizer in photometric determination of metals], TCI A5101 65121-93-9 Ethyl Violet [Sensitive spectrophotometric reagent for anionic surfactants], TCI A5133 40835-96-9 2-Aminoperimidine Hydrobromide [Precipitation reagent for SO4], TCI A5102 81-88-9 Rhodamine B [Ion association reagent for photometric and fluorimetric analysis].

Pay attention to the salt form (chloride, bromide, iodide, or hydrate) as it affects the solubility and stability of working solutions, as well as the purity, which determines the reproducibility of extraction or precipitation results. All products are genuine Tokyo Chemical Industry (TCI) Japan products, with purity, packaging, and storage conditions listed on each item's page.
