TCI B6387, 2-(bromomethyl)quinoline (CAS 5632-15-5), is a heterocyclic building block whose benzylic bromide reacts readily with amines, thiols, phenols, and active methylene nucleophiles. It provides a direct route for installing the quinolin-2-ylmethyl fragment in medicinal chemistry programmes and ligand synthesis. The quinoline nitrogen also offers a metal-coordinating site, making derivatives useful for chelating ligands and fluorescent metal-ion probes.
