TCI B6814 1-Bromoazepan-2-one (CAS 2439-83-0), also known as N-bromocaprolactam, is an N-bromoamide reagent derived from a seven-membered lactam. Its weak nitrogen–bromine bond makes it a convenient source of electrophilic bromine or nitrogen-centred amidyl radicals under suitable conditions. Chemists apply such reagents for controlled brominations, radical C–H functionalisation studies, and the preparation of halogenated intermediates for further cyclisation. Supplied in a 1 g pack, it must be handled in a fume hood and stored cold, dry, and strictly protected from light, heat, and reducing agents.
