Description
Nepsilon-Carbobenzoxy-L-lysine (TCI C0034, CAS 1155-64-2) is an L-lysine derivative in which the side-chain amino group is protected with a carbobenzoxy (Cbz/Z) group. This selective protection lets chemists direct coupling reactions to the alpha-amino group during stepwise peptide synthesis. The Cbz group can later be removed by hydrogenolysis, making it a useful partner in orthogonal protection strategies. Supplied in 5 g and 25 g packs, the powder should be kept tightly closed in a cool, dry place and allowed to reach room temperature before opening if stored chilled.
