epsilon-Caprolactam (TCI C0203, CAS 105-60-2) is a seven-membered lactam best known as the monomer for nylon-6. It is used in ring-opening polymerisation studies, copolymer development, and the preparation of modified polyamide materials. The lactam ring can also be hydrolysed or functionalised to access a range of amino acid derivatives in organic synthesis.
