TCI C0233 1-Chlorononane (CAS 2473-01-0) is a linear primary alkyl chloride bearing a terminal chlorine on a nine-carbon chain. Its primary halide character makes it a dependable SN2 alkylating agent toward amines, thiolates, cyanide, and carboxylate nucleophiles. It can also be converted to the corresponding Grignard reagent for carbon–carbon bond formation, or reacted with tertiary amines to give cationic surfactants. TCI supplies it in 25 mL and 500 mL pack sizes for synthetic, surfactant, and materials research.
