(E)-Cinnamyl Alcohol (TCI C0362, CAS 4407-36-7) is an E-configured aromatic allylic alcohol used both as a fragrance component and as a versatile synthetic building block. It is a classic substrate for Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation, palladium-catalysed allylic substitution, and selective oxidation to cinnamaldehyde. The hydroxyl group is readily esterified, etherified, or converted into a leaving group for further transformations.
