TCI C0440 Butyl Cyanoacetate (CAS 5459-58-5) is the butyl ester of cyanoacetic acid and a widely used active methylene reagent. The butyl chain improves solubility in nonpolar organic solvents and reduces volatility compared with shorter-chain esters. It is applied in Knoevenagel condensations, alkylation reactions, and multicomponent syntheses of pyran, pyridine, and thiophene heterocycles.
