TCI C1441 tert-Butyl Cyanoacetate (CAS 1116-98-9) is an active methylene reagent bearing both nitrile and tert-butyl ester groups on the same carbon. Its acidic alpha protons are easily deprotonated, making it a reliable carbon nucleophile for Knoevenagel condensations, alkylations, and Michael additions. The tert-butyl ester allows mild acid-mediated deprotection, which is valuable when base-sensitive functionality is present in the target molecule.
