TCI C0757 Nalpha-Carbobenzoxy-L-arginine is L-arginine selectively protected at the alpha-amino group with a benzyloxycarbonyl moiety, leaving the guanidine side chain free. This selective protection supports directed peptide bond formation in solution-phase synthesis using Z-based strategies. Protected arginine derivatives are also classical starting materials for chromogenic substrates used in trypsin-like protease and esterase assays.
