TCI C0957 alpha-Caryophyllene (CAS 6753-98-6), also known as humulene, is a sesquiterpene hydrocarbon found naturally in the essential oils of many aromatic plants. It is widely used as a reference standard in gas chromatography, phytochemical profiling, and flavour and fragrance research. Its unsaturated eleven-membered ring also makes it a useful substrate for oxidation, epoxidation, and other terpenoid transformations. Supplied as a liquid in a 1 mL pack, this volatile compound should be kept refrigerated, protected from light, and preferably stored under inert gas.
