TCI C1290 1-Chloro-3-methyl-2-butene (prenyl chloride, CAS 503-60-6) is a reactive allylic halide supplied stabilized with K2CO3. It is the reagent of choice for introducing the prenyl group onto oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon nucleophiles under comparatively mild conditions. The prenyl unit is central to terpenoid and natural product synthesis as well as medicinal chemistry modification studies. AMI Scientific offers 25 mL and 250 mL pack sizes; the material is flammable, lachrymatory, and should be stored cold, dark, and tightly closed.
