TCI C1512 N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-1,3-diaminopropane Hydrochloride (CAS 17400-34-9) is a mono-Cbz-protected 1,3-diaminopropane supplied as the hydrochloride salt. It gives synthetic chemists selective access to one amine terminus, preventing the mixtures of mono- and bis-adducts that unprotected symmetrical diamines usually give. After the free amine has been acylated, alkylated, or sulfonylated, the Cbz group can be removed by hydrogenolysis to reveal the second amine for further work.
