TCI P3301 Palladium 10% on Carbon, MA type, is a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst made of 10% palladium on a carbon support. It is supplied wet, with approximately 53% water. Synthesis laboratories use it to speed up reactions with hydrogen. These include reducing functional groups and breaking carbon–heteroatom bonds by hydrogenolysis. The catalyst is a solid and stays separate from the reaction solution. You can remove it by filtration through a filter aid, so the isolated product contains less residual metal.
Several properties make this catalyst a preferred choice. The 10% palladium loading gives high activity. This suits substrates that react slowly and work where reaction times need to be shorter. The "MA type" label marks a manufacturer-specific formulation that differs from the standard M type. Researchers who need different activity or selectivity at the same metal loading can use it as an alternative. The water content of approximately 53% is a safety measure. It makes the catalyst less likely to ignite when it meets organic solvent vapours in air, so routine handling is safer.
In Indonesian laboratories, this catalyst suits medicinal chemistry research groups, academic organic synthesis laboratories and process development teams that run hydrogenation as a regular step. It works well in multistep routes where protecting groups must be removed or unsaturated intermediates reduced. Easy separation after the reaction makes purification simpler. The wetted form supports safer handling in teaching and research laboratories where many people share the same workspace.

- Reduction of functional groups: the high activity of the 10% palladium loading helps hydrogen react efficiently with susceptible functional groups, including on substrates that react slowly.
- Hydrogenolysis of carbon–heteroatom bonds: the catalyst cleaves carbon–heteroatom bonds under hydrogen, which makes it useful for removing protecting groups during multistep organic synthesis.
- Medicinal chemistry synthesis: easy removal by filtration helps give products with lower residual metal content, which matters for compounds intended for biological evaluation.
- Shortening reaction times in route development: the high activity of this catalyst lets researchers complete hydrogenation steps faster, which speeds up iterative work during synthesis planning.
- Screening for alternative selectivity: the MA type formulation differs from the standard M type, so researchers can compare activity or selectivity at the same 10% palladium loading.

| Storage | keep the catalyst wet in a tightly closed original container |
Store the catalyst in its original, tightly closed container. This keeps the water content from evaporating, because the water is what reduces the ignition hazard. Keep it in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat sources, ignition sources, flammable solvents and oxidizing agents. Do not let the catalyst dry out, especially after it has been used in a reaction and is saturated with hydrogen. Spent catalyst recovered by filtration should stay wet and be placed in a labelled waste container. Handle it in a fume hood and wear gloves, safety glasses and a laboratory coat. Add the catalyst to the reaction vessel before adding organic solvents, or under an inert atmosphere where possible. Always follow the safety data sheet supplied by the manufacturer.
