Collection: Polymerization Inhibitors

Polymerization Inhibitors — a collection of phenolic compounds, quinones, and metal complexes that inhibit free-radical polymerization of unsaturated monomers during storage and distribution, thereby maintaining the stability of raw materials before they are used in controlled polymer synthesis.

Polymerization Inhibitors are used by polymer research laboratories and monomer manufacturing industries to prevent premature polymerization during distillation, storage, and transport of acrylates, styrene, and other vinyl derivatives. Compounds such as hydroquinone and tert-butylphenol derivatives are commonly added in small amounts to monomers to extend shelf life before polymerization is deliberately initiated in the reactor.

Example products in this collection: TCI B1984 3602-55-9 2-tert-Butyl-1,4-benzoquinone, TCI B6182 13927-71-4 Copper(II) Dibutyldithiocarbamate, TCI B0903 1879-09-0 6-tert-Butyl-2,4-xylenol, TCI D0228 128-37-0 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, TCI B0887 106-51-4 1,4-Benzoquinone, TCI D0941 128-39-2 2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol, TCI B0833 1948-33-0 tert-Butylhydroquinone, TCI H0186 123-31-9 Hydroquinone.

Selection depends on the compatibility of the inhibitor with the reaction mechanism being inhibited (free radical versus other pathways), its physical form (crystalline solid or solution), and the purity level suitable for laboratory-scale synthesis applications. All products are genuine Tokyo Chemical Industry (TCI) Japan products, with purity, packaging, and storage conditions listed on each item's page.
