Collection: Visible Light Photoredox Catalysts

Visible Light Photoredox Catalysts — includes photoredox catalysts based on metal complexes such as iridium-bipyridine, as well as organic catalysts such as anthraquinone and xanthone, which absorb visible light to generate radical species through electron or energy transfer.

These catalysts are used in photoredox reactions for the formation of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds, light-controlled polymerization, and radical reactions initiated by electronic excitation. Synthetic organic chemists exploit variations in their ligands and electronic structures to tune the redox potential to suit the target reaction.
