Ferroptosis Activators — compiles compounds used in cell biology research to trigger ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death that depends on iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation, through various molecular pathways such as inhibition of the cystine-glutamate antiporter system.

Ferroptosis-triggering compounds are used by cancer and molecular biology researchers to study non-apoptotic cell death mechanisms in cell and animal models. Erastin and its derivatives are commonly used as reference ferroptosis inducers in screening, while other compounds such as sulfasalazine act through inhibition of the xCT transporter, thereby reducing intracellular glutathione levels and increasing cell susceptibility to oxidative stress.
