The Ossila Dip Coater is a programmable bench instrument for depositing thin films by dipping a substrate into a solution and withdrawing it at a controlled rate. Its withdrawal speed runs from 0.05 to 125 mm/s, so a single system covers a broad span of film thicknesses.

A high-precision stage and motor give smooth movement and repeatable results from one sample to the next. Immersion and withdrawal settings are adjusted separately, and the withdrawal speed can change along the length of the substrate to build gradient films as well as films of uniform thickness. A crash detection system halts the motor if the substrate or arm strikes the coater base or a beaker, helping protect samples and hardware.

The integrated software supports manual or automatic operation and lets users save programmes and routines, so several substrates can be coated without setting the device up again each time. A quick-release clamp speeds up loading and unloading, and a magnetic ruler attachment is included in the design.
