TCI C0245 Chlorophenol Red (CAS 4430-20-0) is a sulfonephthalein pH indicator that shifts from yellow to a red-purple hue as acidity decreases. It is commonly used for acid–base titrations whose endpoint falls in the mildly acidic region, as well as for tracking pH changes in microbiological culture media. Supplied as a coloured solid, it is typically dissolved to prepare dilute indicator solutions, so small packs serve many determinations.
