Nα-Carbobenzoxy-L-asparagine (TCI C0573, CAS 2304-96-3), commonly written Z-Asn-OH, is an L-asparagine derivative bearing a carbobenzoxy protecting group on the alpha-amino function. This protection allows selective coupling at the carboxyl group during stepwise peptide assembly. The Cbz group is stable under many reaction conditions yet can be removed by hydrogenolysis when deprotection is required.
