TCI C1115 2-Naphthyl Chloroformate (CAS 7693-50-7) is an aromatic chloroformate reagent that transfers a strongly UV-absorbing naphthyl carbonate group. It reacts readily with amines and alcohols to form stable carbamates and mixed carbonates, making it useful both for protecting group chemistry and for analytical derivatization. The naphthyl chromophore improves detectability of otherwise weakly absorbing analytes in HPLC work. Supplied by AMI Scientific in a 5 g pack, it must be kept dry, cool, and tightly sealed because chloroformates are moisture sensitive.
