TCI C1357 Decyl Chloroformate (CAS 55488-51-2) is a highly reactive long-chain chloroformate ester used for carbamate and carbonate formation. It reacts readily with primary and secondary amines as well as alcohols and phenols, typically in the presence of a base to neutralise the hydrogen chloride released. The lipophilic decyl chain also makes it valuable as a derivatisation reagent that improves the chromatographic behaviour of polar analytes. Because chloroformates are moisture sensitive and corrosive, they must be handled in a fume hood under dry conditions; AMI Scientific offers this TCI reagent in 5 mL and 25 mL pack sizes.
