TCI C1376 1,1'-Thiocarbonyldiimidazole (TCDI, CAS 6160-65-2) is a versatile thiocarbonyl transfer reagent for organic synthesis. It is best known for converting alcohols into thiocarbonyl imidazolides, the key step of the Barton–McCombie radical deoxygenation. The reagent is also used to prepare isothiocyanates, thioureas, thiocarbamates, and cyclic thiocarbonates from diols. Because it is moisture sensitive, AMI Scientific recommends storing this TCI product tightly sealed in a cool, dry place; 5 g and 25 g packs are available.
