TCI C1557 N-Benzyloxycarbonylhydroxylamine, commonly called Cbz-hydroxylamine, is a protected hydroxylamine derivative that is far easier to handle than the free reagent. The free hydroxyl group remains available for selective functionalization through Mitsunobu chemistry or direct alkylation, giving access to O-substituted hydroxylamines and N–O containing scaffolds. It is a standard precursor for hydroxamic acids, aminooxy compounds used in oxime bioconjugation, and isoxazolidine frameworks, with the Cbz group removable under mild catalytic hydrogenolysis. AMI Scientific supplies this TCI reagent in 5 g and 25 g packs for medicinal chemistry, peptide chemistry, and enzyme inhibitor research.
