TCI D4228 Bucladesine Sodium Salt (CAS 16980-89-5) is the sodium salt of dibutyryl cyclic AMP, an analogue of cAMP whose two butyryl groups make the molecule far more readily able to cross the cell membrane than natural cAMP. In cell biology and biochemistry laboratories, this compound is used as a pharmacological tool to raise the activity of cAMP-dependent signalling pathways from outside the cell, without first having to stimulate adenylate cyclase. Researchers can therefore test directly the role of cAMP in differentiation, secretion, gene expression, and a wide range of other cellular responses.
